Vinyl Club FAQ
What even is this?
Good question! Yeah so, the Vinyl Club is my top-end subscription tier, it's $75 a month (which is a lot especially in this economy), and for that I wanted to offer something tactile and curated. Something personal.
So every month, for all subscribers at this tier, I go out and find a used or new vinyl record I think you'll like, based on your tastes, my vibe, and sometimes what's going on in the world, and ship it to the address of your choosing. When you sign up, I'll email you a Google form and we might chat a little to figure out what you like, what you don't like, and more importantly what you already have.
What kinds of records will I get?
That depends! Each offering is selected based on your tastes. I'm choosing things I think you'll like, appreciate, or maybe be challenged by. You'll also get a handwritten note explaining why I chose what I did.
Okay but I could just go to a record store and buy these myself.
You're not wrong. This subscription tier isn't a shipping or fulfillment service. It's about personal connection, supporting what I do here at Strapped, and getting a real, physical addition to your vinyl collection.
Why is it so expensive?
Yeah $75 a month is a lot. It's honestly more than I could afford right now. But it's priced that way because there's only one of me – and for every subscriber I will be literally going to a record store or talking to an independent record label to get you something I want you to hear. If it was cheaper, I'd get overwhelmed pretty quickly.
If that changes in the future – if I'm able to work on Strapped full-time or hell even hire someone to help me with things, then the price will very likely go down.
Why tho?
Because I used to do something similar when I was on certain adult sites, and I always liked it. But instead of music it was polaroids of my butt that I'd sign or write personalized messages on. I just like connecting with an audience on a personal level.
Will I get polaroids of your butt?
Unfortunately, no. That ship has sailed.
Do I have to join your Discord?
No! Not at all. The Discord is there purely if you want to chat with me and other Vinyl Club members. Sometimes I'll post surveys there, ask questions about your tastes, even get music recommendations from y'all.
How long does shipping take?
That's going to vary based on your location. I'm based in Seattle, so if you're closer it'll be quicker. Conservatively, you should expect it to take at least 2-3 weeks. You will always get a tracking number though.
Do you ship internationally?
Right now, no. Currently I'm limiting this to US subscribers only, if and when I can figure out a way to make sure a vinyl record makes it across international borders intact and reasonably priced, I will absolutely change that!
